Meet Yoky Yu - Individual and Group Therapist in Sitges

Meet Yoky Yu

Hello Yoky, thanks for taking some time to talk to us, let’s get going and get to know you!

Yoky Yu is an Integrative Psychosomatic Therapist for individuals and couples. She has a unique perspective on healing stemmed from Taoism and her own lived experience working with complex trauma.

What inspired you to start your business, and how did it all begin?

What motivated me to become a therapist is my own personal growth and healing journey, having come from a rather challenging childhood. I find the integration work extremely important for our personal growth, well-being, and living our fulfilling human experiences.

What makes your business unique compared to others in your industry?

I have lived in China, U.S.A, and now Spain. (LGBTQ+ member; cross-culturally trained.) My last name 俞 in ancient Chinese means “healing”! So that’s pretty much my calling for life.

What’s the story behind your business name?

I believe in the power of integration and becoming our unique selves, imperfect and totally original. I believe that change comes from acceptance. I believe that it takes a life time for us to be on the journey of returning to our “origin”.

Tell us a little about yourself – what’s your background, and what led you here?

I’m Yoky, a professional therapist and artist based in Sitges and Barcelona. I’m passionate about individual and couple’s therapy, as well as therapeutic group work. My approach is integrative, somatic, and relational, co-explored with my clients at their pace.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

I’m also a standup comedian and a rapper. I have self-published a novel. I love dogs and horses but monkey is my Chinese Zodiac sign.

What values are most important to you in running your business?

I take a non-diagnostic approach, influenced by Eastern healing philosophies, and combined with modern therapeutic techniques. I also perform comedy, so I bring a sense of dark humor to my sessions too when appropriate, especially with couple’s therapy. I believe that when a therapist can be herself, in and out of a session, she can also potentially empower her clients as who they are.

Who do you support, and what kind of problems do you help solve?

Integrative PsychoSomatic Therapy for: Trauma, Relationships, Self-worth, Complex Trauma, Emotions, Sexuality. (Sensorimotor & somatic parts/ inner child healing for individuals and couples to thrive wildly.)

What’s the best feedback you’ve ever received from a customer?

"Yoky helped us find the roots of our love with a gentle, fun, and tender approach. What really made the difference for us was that the sessions felt light, and were often concentrated on somatic practices as well as conversation. This is what we needed as we are both people who tend to be more in our heads, but it is in the body that trauma and other things are stored… Deeply grateful to her, our relationship truly changed since we worked with her."

How would you describe the experience someone gets when they interact with your business?

Person-centered approach

Recommended for those looking for a supportive, non-judgmental space where they can lead the conversation and explore their feelings at their own pace.

Body therapy

Recommended for those who want to connect their mind and body to release stress or trauma through physical sensations and movement.

Integrative therapy

Recommended for those who prefer a flexible approach that combines different therapies to meet their unique needs.

Thanks Yoky for a small insight to your services, looking forward to the next chapter of your story in a few weeks.
