Behind the scenes with TasteBox Sitges

What’s a day in the life of running your business like?

It´s fast-paced, and full of variety. Each day begins with checking in on customer orders, reviewing new requests, and making sure that all of our services are lined up for the day. We work closely with suppliers to ensure that only the highest quality ingredients are sourced.

We’re also in constant communication with our customers, whether it's confirming details for their meals, answering questions, or making adjustments based on feedback. At the heart of it all, the focus is always on providing a personalized, top-tier food experience for our clients, which is what makes each day exciting and fulfilling.

Can you share a memorable moment or challenge you’ve overcome in your journey?

I think the biggest challenge I’ve overcome in my journey has been adjusting to the changing dynamics of running a business while adapting to new cultural contexts. Moving from country to country makes you experience shifts in environment and culture, and each time it’s required a fresh approach. Every time I’ve moved to a new place, I’ve had to learn not only the logistics of business but also how to connect with and understand local preferences, habits, and expectations. It’s always a challenge to start over, but each move has given me the opportunity to refine my approach, grow personally, and get closer to the heart of what people truly want from their culinary experiences.

In many ways, those challenges have shaped Taste Box into what it is today—an adaptable and responsive business that’s always looking to meet the needs of our diverse customers. The constant evolution and the ability to recreate myself and my business in new environments has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

What steps do you take to ensure your business is sustainable/ethical?

I focus deeply on building authentic relationships with my clients. I believe that honesty, trust, and transparency are the foundation of any strong business relationship, and I make it a point to offer not just high-quality services, but also a personal touch that shows my genuine care for each individual. I believe that in today’s world, where so much feels automated and detached, it’s the genuine, human connections that matter most. I share my love and gratitude with my clients, not just through the products and services we offer, but through how I engage with them. By staying true to myself and my values, I aim to create a space where people feel valued, heard, and appreciated—because those personal connections are what truly make a business thrive in the long run.

What do you love and hate about the digital world?

What I love about the digital world is how it makes connections and information more accessible than ever. What I dislike is how impersonal the digital world can sometimes feel, it’s easy for genuine relationships and personal interactions to get lost. That’s why I strive to make every interaction as personal, real, and human as possible, ensuring everyone feels heard and appreciated.

What has been the hardest part of running your business in a foreign town?

Adapting to new culture and habits. Understanding their needs and creating services/products that fulfill their needs.

If you could talk to your younger self, what would say?

I’d tell myself that everything has its proper time. There’s no need to rush or force things to happen. The struggles are just part of the journey, and helps you to be who you need to become. Trust the process, be patient with yourself, and know that everything will turn out just fine in the end.

If you had a bucket list for Sitges what would be your top 5 things to do?

Here´s my bucket list for Sitges:

  1. Stroll down the iconic Sitges beaches: Its beautiful coastline, like Playa de la Fragata, with its stunning views and vibrant atmosphere, is a must.

  2. Explore the charming old town: Wandering through Sitges' cobbled streets, lined with whitewashed buildings, boutique shops, and cafes, is like stepping back in time.

  3. Visit the Maricel Museum: Once home to artist Santiago Rusiñol, is a must. The museum showcases modernist art, sculptures, and historical exhibits.

  4. Enjoy a private wine or food tour: Sitges and the Penedès region are famous for their wines, so going on a wine tour to explore the local vineyards is a fantastic experience. Sample traditional Catalan dishes makes for a perfect day out.

  5. Experience the Festa Major/Carnival/ Sitges Nightlife: If you’re in Sitges during its vibrant Festa Major (August) or Carnival (February), you’ll experience the town at its liveliest. If not, then the amazing nightlife is reflection of the town’s party spirit.

What is the thing you love the most about Sitges?

What I love most about Sitges is its incredible diversity and the way it embraces people from all over the world, cultures, and backgrounds, which gives it such a rich and vibrant atmosphere. There’s an undeniable sense of inclusivity.

Sitges is also known for its strong acceptance of gender diversity and its reputation as a LGBTQ+ friendly destination. At the same time, Sitges is a fantastic place for families and raising kids, fostering an environment where children grow up with a broader perspective on diversity. It’s a place where values of kindness, inclusion, and respect are not just talked about but practiced every day.

What’s next for your business – any exciting plans for the future?

The next exciting project for Taste Box is to create a line of products that allows people to stock their pantries and freezers with delicious, high-quality homemade meals and snacks. These are designed for those busy days when you don’t have the time to cook but still want to enjoy a nutritious, flavorful meal at home. We’re focusing on making it as convenient as possible, while never compromising on the quality or taste that our customers have come to love.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone starting a similar business, what would it be?

My biggest piece of advice would be to stay persistent, always focus on delivering quality products and services, and never underestimate the power of the human touch. Building a business is a journey, and there will be challenges along the way, but consistency and dedication to maintaining high standards will set you apart.

At the same time, don’t forget the importance of building genuine connections. Show up as your authentic self, be available for your customers, listen to their needs, and build trust. So, keep pushing forward, stay true to your values, and always prioritise those real, personal connections.
